It is said that the best method in detected and being aware of the ovarian cancer is through regular pelvic examinations. Ask you gynecologist about the Papanicolau Tests.
These regular screenings have a limited value. The bimanual exam has also some advantages, mostly because they are fast, easy and have no significant economics strings attached. The operation can verify certain syndromes that can appear, in the post menopause when it is required that every woman with the palpable ovary syndrome, after menopause to be surgically evaluated. This intervention is strictly clinical and bases itself on the fact that the normal, palpable ovary in the pre menopause can develop a tumor after post menopause.
