Survival rate at 5 years:

- It is of 70-100% in stage I,

- 50-70% in stage II,

- 15-35% in stage III and

- 10-20% in stage IV. The prognosis is worse in poorly differentiated tumors or when surgery cannot remove all the tissue being involved.

The prognosis is better when the tumor tissue can be reduced to less than 1 cm in diameter. In the third and fourth stages, the recurrence rate is of about 70%.
